New RV Company Buys Coachmen Manufacturing Facility

Evergreen Recreational Vehicles, a new RV company formed in December 2008, has completed the purchase of the Coachmen Complex in Middlebury Indiana.

Coachmen Industries, Inc. announced earlier that it had closed on the sale of nearly all of the assets of its Recreation Vehicle business to Forest River, Inc. The sale had been overwhelmingly approved by the Shareholders the previous week. Coachmen headquarters will remain in Elkhart Indiana, and the company will now focus exclusively on its systems-built housing division and its growing specialty vehicle business.

NYSE Threatens to Delist Another RV Manufacturer

RV maker Monaco Coach Corporation (MNC: NYSE) announced today that it received a letter from the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on January 6 advising that it was no longer in compliance with the exchange's standard requirements for a common stock. Under NYSE rules, a common stock must maintain an average closing price above one dollar per share for 30 consecutive trading days.

Camping World Ready to Sponsor NASCAR Trucks

Friday, February 13, 2009 marks a new era. The opening of the NASCAR Truck Series at Daytona will see a new title sponsor. Craftsman is out and Camping World is in as the sponsor for the truck series. The seven year agreement is thought to be worth between $5 million and $7 million dollars.

NYSE Will Delist Fleetwood Enterprises

This is beginning to sound like a broken record. For those of you too young to remember vinyl LP record albums, Wiki "broken record". I reported the financial woes of Country Coach just yesterday. Today the economy is claiming an even larger RV victim. The New York Stock Exchange has dropped RV manufacturer Fleetwood Enterprises (NYSE:FLTW). Public trading of the once Fortune 500 company will be suspended at the opening bell on Monday. Once that happens, Fleetwood will be out of the exchange. Why? Its stock value tumbled 98 percent last year. The company’s stock value has now plunged below the minimum required by Wall Street regulators. From a high in 2004 of $16.06 per share, Fridays closing bids were as low as $0.0753 per share.

Camping Without Moving

It’s New Year's Day and I haven’t changed campgrounds or RV parks in more than 3 months.  That’s unusual for me and I’m getting restless.  We’ll probably be in this same campground until May as we await several monumental family events we plan to attend.  Sitting still got me thinking of ways to entertain my nomadic camping urge without being able to go places. When I get restless like this, I usually start planning my next trip or two just to soothe the urge.   I thought I’d share a few cool things I found, even if they are a bit unusual.
